It's amazing to see an $89.00 program outdoing something like Corel Draw. I also really wanted to use Photopaint but there's bug when the "smoothing" option is used and the quality of the brushes is poor in general. Draw would have been my first choice but the brushes are just not very good.
It's not overall nearly as fully featured as Corel Draw, but it works for what I need it for on the tablet. Serif DrawPlusX4 has very good brush tools. Corel Draw is very fast on the tablet, but the brush tools are poor. It is my number 1 vector application for my tablet PC. Yeah, I tried out Serif DrawPlus X4 while trying to find a light weight vector program for my tablet PC. So they just informed me that they have now released DrawPlus X5 and offered it to me for just £39.99 I already use WebPlus from Serif for web design. There are lots of these and they can be applied to anything, even text. In DrawPlus they were fast even with the double outline.Īll the decorative edges seen on this job (border and info box edges) are outline effects. When I use these in CorelDraw the screen refresh is so slow I often have to substitute them for a simpler typeface until the end of the job. The first thing I noticed was the speed at which it handled the distressed font used for the headers. I only used it to produce one job (one that I was working on in CorelDraw X5 at the time). There is very little learning curve before you are into it and workflow is fast, logical and productive.
This program does a lot of very cool stuff and is very easy to use. A few days ago a studio colleague of mine showed me the Serif DrawPlus X4 program on his system and asked me to use it and let him know my thoughts.
